Explosive Showdown: Trine University and Adrian College Ignite BEL Week 1!

In the Block House Esports League (BEL) inaugural week, the virtual sparks flew as Trine University and Adrian College locked horns across three thrilling esports titles: Smash Ultimate, CoD: MW2, and Rocket League. Friends, families, program members, and school administrators gathered virtually to witness an evening of intense competition and sportsmanship.

Smash Ultimate

Adrian College‘s Smash Ultimate team kicked off their season on a challenging note, trailing 0-2. Despite the slow start, Adrian’s Techbase showcased remarkable prowess with their Ken, managing to maintain a positive KD and giving spectators a glimmer of hope. Trine University, however, wasn’t about to let their guard down. Their dynamic duo wielding Banjo & Kazooie/Donkey Kong made quite the impact, positioning themselves as early MVP candidates in the eyes of the fans. Looking ahead, Adrian College seeks redemption against Calvin College, while Trine University gears up to face Albion College.

CoD: MW2

In the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 arena, Trine’s Bob Ross painted a promising start in Hardpoint, tying for the second-most average hill time in the game. But Adrian College had other plans, clawing back to secure a victory. Dominating both Search and Destroy and Control, Adrian’s Noble exhibited exceptional gameplay, racking up 18 untraded kills out of 22 in Control. Adrian walked away with a well-deserved 3-0 series victory, signaling their competitors to stay alert. Next week, while Adrian CoD enjoys a bye, Trine CoD is set to engage with Albion College.

Rocket League

The Rocket League matchup was nothing short of a nail-biter, with every game in the series being decided by a mere one goal. Trine University took an early 2-0 series lead, fueled by Cundyy’s three goals. However, Albion College answered back in game 3, led by XBAgent1’s assists and FrozenPencil615’s decisive goal. The tension peaked in game 4, where Nim from Trine University emerged as the hero, scoring the overtime goal two and a half minutes into overtime and securing the series for his team. As Adrian team takes a bye next week, Trine Rocket League is preparing for another electrifying match against Albion College.
